From old_magic1@grandecom.net Mon Feb 21 16:51:42 2005 Date: Sat, 19 Feb 2005 05:27:37 +0000 (UTC) From: Old Magic1 Newsgroups: rec.food.recipes Subject: Creme De Menthe Brownies Followup-To: rec.food.cooking, rec.food.recipes Creme De Menthe Brownies Southern Living Bake 350 F Yield 4 dozen 4 (1 oz.) square unsweetened chocolate 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup butter 1/2 tsp salt 4 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 2 cups sugar Frosting 4 cups sifted powdered sugar 1/4 cup Green creme de menthe 1/2 cup butter, softened at room temp. 1 cup finely chopped pecans 1/4 cup half and half 1/2 cup semisweet morsels, melted Combine unsweetened chocolate and butter in a small, heavy saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted. Let stand 10 minutes. Beat eggs at medium speed of electric mixer until lemon colored; gradually add sugar, beating well until thick. Add flour, salt, vanilla and cooled chocolate mixture; beat at low speed 1 minute. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased and floured 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; spread with Creme de Menthe Frosting over warm top. Chill at least 4 hours. Drizzle melted chocolate morsels over frosting. Cut into bars. Remove from pan, and chill at least 1 hour. Store in an airtight container. Frosting Directions Combine all ingredients except nuts in mixer bowl; beat at high speed until smooth. Stir in nuts.
