From vincemoon@rcn.com Thu Jul 10 10:30:56 2003 Date: Tue, 8 Jul 2003 13:06:48 +0000 (UTC) From: David Virgil Hobbs Newsgroups: rec.food.recipes Subject: New World Mandalay Maharaj Steak Followup-To: rec.food.cooking, rec.food.recipes New World Mandalay Maharaj Steak Lightning fast recipe for classic healthy steak beef steak hot small green peppers juice of a few limes peanut oil whole black peppers fresh coriander My invention should be called I do not know what but it works as follows: buy your self a piece of steak, even the cheapest one, and marinate it for a few hours according to my directions, and you should end up with a great tasting and also heathly steak! In a blender put a few of those really hot small green (or when old orange) peppers you can get at an Indian grocery store if not at the regular supermarket, the juice of a few limes, some peanut oil, some whole black peppers, and some fresh coriander (the coriander is alot cheaper at an Indian grocery store). Blend this mix in a blender. Then after stabbing holes in your steak, rub this mixture into the steak. Then put the steak on a plate cover with Saran wrap over it and leave it in the frig for a few hours. Then preheat the broiler, and broil the steak for about five minutes on one side and about four minutes on the other (rare) , about two inches away from the flame. Presto! A fantastic steak is the result, easily chewed and digested, even though it was the cheapest cut of steak in the supermarket! I based this recipe on my childhood experiences with Indian food, during which I noticed that almost any Indian food is turned into a gourmet treat if you add some ghee (buffalo milk butter) raw green peppers, coriander, lime and salt to it.I could not find the buffalo milk clarified butter on the internet but So in the end I used peanut oil instead of any kind of clarified butter in the marinade. I have found peanut oil returns a better taste than the other oils. I gave the steak the name I did because Limes originated in Malaysia, green peppers in the New World, black peppers in India, and coriander in the mediterranean and southeast Asia. I am sure this basic recipe would also effortlessly and healthily produce good results with poultry fish lamb and pork. I knew I was eventually going to be able to match my dad in terms of my ability to create completely new fantastic recipes, but I was wondering why it was taking so long for me to match him. But after Mr. Greg Gibson and Mr. John Zuppe prompted me to do a really thorough job of cleaning up my apartment, I finally succeeded in coming up with something to rival my dad's inventions. Seems like an apartment that is messy inhibits cooking creativity. Usually when I clean up my apartment it is just the floors the kitchen the bathroom, but this time I attacked and cleaned and reorganized the contents of the closets also with alot of stuff thrown out and also cleaned off the walls; and after this I finally equalled my dad. I thankyou God in the name of your son Yayzoos for this New World Mandalay Maharaj steak thing Excepting those who are too evil for this blessing, may all those who eat it by eating fly closer to you! -- Rec.food.recipes is moderated by Patricia Hill at recipes@swcp.com.
