From mightymidget69@hotmail.com Mon Jan 31 09:59:19 2005 Date: 29 Jan 2005 08:09:14 -0800 From: tubal cain Newsgroups: uk.food+drink.indian Subject: AMMAI'S TOMATOE Another one from Dr John July 13, 1997 Dr.P.K.John Toronto, Ontario, Canada WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE TOO MANY CHOICES -LET US TURN TO MY AMMAI'S TOMATOE DISH: INGREDIENTS 2 medium size tomatoes (chopped ) 1 medium sized onion (chopped) 2 Green chilies(chopped ) 2tsp ginger (chopped ) 1 tsp red Chile powder (medium hot ) 1/2 tspblack pepper powder salt to taste mustard seeds (as needed) curry leaves (as needed) cooking oil (2tbsp) Heat the oil in a frying pan. The oil should be hot enough to break mustard seeds. Add the onions and saute. Add the curry leaves. Saute. Add the chilie powder and black pepper powder. Cook without burning. Add ginger. Saute for 1 to 2 minute. Add green chilies and tomatoes and salt and bring to boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.Serve hot with cooked rice and another curry.
