From daffodilw@hotmail.com Wed Feb 20 10:53:16 2002 Date: Wed, 20 Feb 2002 02:37:14 +0000 (UTC) From: Daffodil WhoamI Newsgroups: rec.food.recipes Subject: Chow Mein Followup-To: rec.food.cooking, rec.food.recipes >From a Chinese cooking class I attended CHOW MEIN 1/4 peanut oil 1 Lb raw, sliced chicken 1-1/2 Lb Chinese cabbage (Napa or bok choy) 4-5 stalks celery 1 Spanish onion, chopped roughly 1 can sliced mushrooms 1/2 green pepper, sliced (or whatever) 4 tsp soy sauce 2 tsp oyster sauce 2 tsp sugar 1-1/2 tsp MSG (opt) 1-1/2 tsp salt 1 Lb bean sprouts 4 tsp cornstarch Heat oil. Cook chicken for 2 minutes. Add vegetables. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, MSG, and salt. Mix. Cover and cook 5 min. Add sprouts, cook 5 minutes, covered. Mix cornstarch with a little water. Add to vegetables. Mix well. Add about 6 drops of sesame oil. Serve with Chow Mein noodles.
